Project Overview
Located in Lusaka, Zambia, this granite aggregate production plant was developed to supply high-quality aggregates for local concrete and infrastructure projects. The customer’s quarry mainly processes hard granite with high compressive strength and strong abrasiveness, requiring a reliable secondary crushing solution that could handle continuous heavy-duty operation.
Before the upgrade, the quarry faced several challenges. The hard granite caused rapid wear on traditional crushing equipment, while the local hot and dusty working environment increased maintenance frequency and affected production stability. During technical discussions, the customer clearly required a crushing solution with stable output, low maintenance requirements, and flexible product size adjustment to achieve around 300 t/h production capacity.
Based on the material properties, site conditions, and production targets, Zhongyi’s engineering team designed a customized crushing solution centered around a single cylinder hydraulic cone crusher.
Customized Crushing Solution
To improve crushing efficiency and reduce equipment wear, Zhongyi selected the ZY-SCH-400 Single Cylinder Hydraulic Cone Crusher as the key secondary crushing equipment.
A vibrating pre-screen was installed before the cone crusher to remove fine materials in advance. This process design helps prevent unnecessary crushing of smaller particles, improves overall production efficiency, and reduces wear on the crusher liners.
For this high-hardness granite application, the crusher was configured with a medium-coarse crushing chamber and 18% manganese steel wear parts to improve resistance against abrasive materials. The optimized chamber design ensures better material compression and more stable crushing performance during continuous operation.
The hydraulic protection system provides automatic overload protection by releasing uncrushable materials and quickly restoring normal operation, reducing downtime caused by blockages. In addition, the hydraulic adjustment system allows operators to easily control the discharge opening and produce different aggregate sizes from 10 mm to 30 mm according to market requirements.
Zhongyi also provided complete technical support, including equipment installation guidance, commissioning assistance, and operator training to ensure smooth operation after delivery.
On-Site Performance
After installation and commissioning, the granite crushing line achieved a stable production capacity of 280–310 t/h, meeting the customer’s expected output target.
During long-term operation, the Zhongyi single cylinder hydraulic cone crusher has maintained reliable performance under high-temperature and dusty quarry conditions. The optimized crushing chamber and wear-resistant components significantly extended the service life of key spare parts, helping the customer reduce maintenance frequency and operating costs.
The final aggregate products feature consistent particle size distribution and good cubic shape, fully meeting the requirements for commercial concrete production and local construction projects.
