Project Overview
The project is a large-scale basalt crushing and sand making plant in Inner Mongolia with an annual design output of 1 million m³. Because basalt is a hard rock, the production line needed a suitable combination of crushing and shaping equipment to maintain the required product sizes and produce manufactured sand for downstream construction use.
Zhongyi Mining developed the equipment configuration according to the project requirements and site conditions, including elevation, power supply, water availability, available space, and environmental requirements. The complete equipment was shipped to the Inner Mongolia site at the end of the year, followed by on-site installation and commissioning support from Zhongyi engineers.
Zhongyi Basalt Crushing & Sand Making Solution
For this project, Zhongyi Mining configured a crushing, closed-circuit screening, VSI shaping, and final classification process for the basalt feed. The system uses a vibrating feeder and jaw crusher for primary crushing, followed by a spring cone crusher for intermediate crushing.
After cone crushing, the material enters the screening stage. Oversized material is returned to the cone crusher for further reduction, forming a closed circuit. Suitable material then enters the VSI vertical-shaft impact crusher for further crushing and shaping before final screening. The finished products are separated into the required size fractions and transferred to the finished-product storage area.
The overall process was arranged according to the project capacity, product requirements, and site conditions, providing the customer with a complete basalt crushing and sand making system.

After the crushing and sand making line entered production, the equipment operated steadily under the local working conditions while processing basalt. The material moved continuously through the jaw crusher, spring cone crusher, screening, and VSI shaping stages, and the finished products were separated into the required size fractions for storage.
During actual production, the line achieved output above the original design expectation, and the 0–5 mm manufactured sand, 10–20 mm aggregate, and 20–30 mm aggregate met the customer’s requirements for commercial concrete, highway, water conservancy, and hydropower applications.
Project Value and Long-Term Support
The project provides the customer with a complete 1 million m³/year basalt crushing and sand making system, producing manufactured sand and multiple aggregate sizes from one production line. The process was configured around the characteristics of basalt, the required product sizes, and the actual site conditions, providing a practical setup for long-term aggregate production.
